As a leading provider of infusion therapy for more than 30 years, AOM Infusion is proud to partner with extraordinary care providers to help deliver the best possible patient outcomes.
For us, every patient’s treatment is personal. We believe they deserve compassionate, attentive, personalized care by expert providers who are their advocates.
“It’s why we all do this,” says Roger Feltman, director of AOM’s transplant and chronic division. “We are focused on helping improve our patient’s health so they may live better.”
Every day, we see the impact the “AOM Difference” makes in the lives of patients like Trent. As a father of two active kids and a fiercely competitive para-athlete, Trent credits AOM with helping him emerge from a state of depression and begin to rebuild his life. “When we first started doing infusions, it went from a typical nurse-patient relationship to an extended family,” he reveals. “It’s always, ‘What can we do for you? How can we make this better?’ Ideas flow. Sometimes, it seems like I’m in a think tank dedicated to finding ways to make my life better.”
Your Patients Are In Good Hands
Physicians and patients rely on us for precise, personalized infusion therapy administered in patient homes and our state-of-the-art ambulatory infusion suites (AIS). With a pharmacy license in all 50 states, AOM provides services nationwide. Our team specializes in the treatment of more than 80 complex chronic conditions — including chronic inflammatory disorders, immunological conditions, neurologic disorders, transplants and specialized therapies. Common therapies we manage include immunoglobulins (IVIG and SQ), chronic inflammatory and biologic infusions and specialized therapies.
“AOM has serviced hundreds of my patients over the past 11 years and is still delivering the same unsurpassed quality of care since day one,” affirms one neurologist. “AOM’s communication with my patients and my staff is always exceptional. We continue to be impressed by the knowledge of their clinicians. They’re always eager and willing to help whenever needed with any request we put before them.”
“AOM will go the extra mile to ensure optimal outcomes,” echoes another neurologist with New York- Presbyterian Hospital. “Their efficient communication and easy referral process are strong qualities they have consistently demonstrated throughout the years. AOM has always provided extraordinary services to my patients and is an expert provider of IVIG infusion. They are an extension of my practice and I am very satisfied with their continued level of professionalism and care for my patients.”
Our deep expertise is bolstered by an unwavering commitment to excellence. AOM maintains accreditations from highly respected organizations, including the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).
“We’ve assembled an unrivaled team of specialized high-tech nurses to monitor all treatments,” says Sheila Iacono, AOM’s vice president of nursing operations. “Many hold best-in-class certifications, including Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI), to deliver the best possible infusion experience.”
AOM’s specialty clinical infusion pharmacists are another invaluable part of the patient care team.
“We’ve grown a lot, but AOM still offers a personalized boutique experience,” clinical pharmacist Whitney Unterwagner explains. “When patients first come on service with us, we work hard to get them verified quickly and ship their medication quickly. We do everything we can to ensure there isn’t a delay in their therapy. Because we pay careful attention to details, our patients are well cared for. Our close working relationships with care providers and close bonds with patients are hallmarks of AOM’s personalized approach to patient care.”
“In specialty pharmacy, the patients who count on us for their daily, weekly or monthly therapies come first — and always have for close to 35 years now,” Feltman adds.
AOM Streamlines the Referral Process
We understand that physicians and their clinical teams are busy caring for patients! That’s why we’ve designed a patient referral process to make life a bit easier for care providers.
“One of our goals is to quickly give care providers who refer patients to us a clear answer about our ability to service their patients,” says Misha Sturns, senior director of business development at AOM Infusion. “In most cases, we provide an update within two hours.”
The response time is no small feat considering 72 to 96 hours is the norm. In that quick time frame, AOM submits documentation and checks off all the necessary boxes to secure prior authorization with the payor to ensure continuity of care so patients don’t experience any delay in treatment. “It’s truly an honor for us to build trust with our physician partners and help care for their patients,” Sturns reveals. “A lot of doctors feel like they have to have staff to handle the time-consuming complexities of prior authorization, so we take that responsibility off their plate.”
Toward that effort, AOM works closely with patients’ health care providers, insurance case managers, nurse clinicians and specialty infusion pharmacists to deliver seamless communications and care for the best possible outcomes.
“We have a reimbursement department staffed by insurance specialists who verify coverage for specialty infusion therapy and obtain pre-certification and authorizations for services,” Sturns adds. “We work with most major insurance carriers and have active contracts with a variety of commercial payors.”
Seamless communication to keep care providers up to date on their patients’ progress is a high priority, too. Advanced technology systems provide timely reporting on health data, assessments and lab work to keep prescribers apprised about their patient’s clinical progress throughout treatment — a welcome feature that has earned AOM a 99% satisfaction score from our referring care providers.
“I appreciate how easy AOM made the process to get a patient set up on home infusion,” notes one physician. “They go above and beyond to answer questions and make the set up as easy as possible.”
“AOM is the first place I refer patients for home infusion,” adds another physician. “The feedback I receive from patients is that they also love AOM. Everything is seamless and I never have issues.”
